Bridge the Gap! Thrift Store opens on North Beverwyck
Bridge the Gap!, a New Jersey registered charitable organization, has opened a thrift store at 92 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha. The store serves the Morris County area and offers used clothing, including winter coats, children’s toys, books, and household goods. Items are offered in return for donations, however those who are unemployed or suffering financially will not be required to pay for any items. The store is open Monday to Saturday, 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
All funds raised through the thrift store help support Bridge the Gap’s Food 4 the Hungry program, operated in conjunction with Realife Church of Parsippany, where canned goods and packaged foods are distributed weekly every Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. next door to the thrift shop. There are no financial qualification criteria for the food and the program is non-denominational. Food is distributed on a first come, first served basis, based on availability.
Donations of clothing for the thrift store and canned goods for the food pantry are welcome from the public.
BTG Executive Director Andrew Liput stated, “With the economy in bad shape, and unemployment at the highest levels in 25 years, more people are in need of assistance than ever before. We are doing what we can to alleviate the suffering of our neighbors at this time by offering to meet their basic needs with donations of food and clothing. We encourage all in our community to support us in this important endeavor.”
Bridge the Gap is an IRS 501(c)3 charitable organization registered as charity in New Jersey. BTG celebrated its 10 year anniversary in 2009 helping thousands of families and children in need in New York and New Jersey. Over 90% of all financial donations to BTG go directly to public assistance, and all people serving the organization are volunteers.
Real Life Church is a contemporary Christian church meeting at the Clearview Cinemas, Route 46. Services include contemporary live-music, casual dress, relevant messages, fun children's programs, and free coffee and muffins. Services take place on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.
