Purse Snatcher Arrested
On March 6 at 2:04 p.m. officers responded to the area of Iroquois Avenue and North Beverwyck Road to investigate a report of a purse snatching and assault that had just occurred. The Parsippany Police Department Investigative Division initiated an investigation into the crime and on Tuesday, April 24, Mr. James Ross, 22, Parsippany was arrested by Det. Edward Conklin. He is being charged with Robbery, a second degree crime. He was processed at Parsippany Police Headquarters before being turned over to the custody of the Morris County Jail in lieu of $150,000.00 bail with no 10% option.
Arrest for Possession of CDS
Officers Jason Ferreira and Michelle Kardos conducted a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of 350 New Road on Tuesday, May 8 of a vehicle being operated by Mr. Arthur Nadeau, 37, Ledgewood. A random check of the vehicle’s license plate revealed that Mr. Nadeau was driving with a suspended license. He was also found to have an active arrest warrant issued for him from Mendham Township. After a brief investigation, Mr. Nadeau was found to be in possession of four bags of Heroin, a vial of Crack Cocaine as well as a Hypodermic Syringe. He was placed under arrest and transported to Parsippany police Headquarters where he was processed before being turned over to officers of the Dover Police Department for an arrest warrant issued for him by their municipal court.
Arrest Made for Eluding Police
Officer Ross Cooper responded to the Knoll Gardens Apartments on Saturday, May 5 to investigate a dirt bike driving erratically on Van Wyck Road. Upon his arrival, Officer Cooper observed a male later identified as Godfrey Munroe, 28, Newark, on a motorcycle driving towards his patrol vehicle on Van Wyck Road. The man was not wearing a helmet. The officer gestured the driver to stop. At that time, the driver made a left turn in front of the patrol vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed. Officer Cooper pulled behind the motorcycle and activated his emergency lights and sirens. The motorcycle again quickly accelerated northbound on North Beverwyck Road and fled through the flashing caution light and right onto Knoll Rd. before striking a curb at a high rate of speed and being thrown from the motorcycle. Mr. Munroe then attempted to flee on foot before quickly being placed under arrest by Officer Cooper. He was treated at the location by members the Rockaway Neck First Aid Squad before being transported to Parsippany Police Headquarters where he was processed before being released after posting $5,000.00 bail for the Eluding Charge. He also has pending court appearances for five motor vehicle summonses that were issued in relation to the incident.
Arrest for Distribution of CDS
The Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department Investigative Division received information that Mr. Brian Morrison, 18, Parsippany was in the business of selling controlled dangerous substances in our township. An investigation was initiated and enough evidence was collected to apply for a search warrant of his residence in the Lake Hiawatha section of the township. The warrant was executed on Thursday, May 3. Detectives made contact and detained Mr. Morrison outside of his home while Parsippany Detectives along with a K-9 Unit from the Morris County Sheriff’s Department conducted a search of the premises. Police located a black case containing small zip-lock type bags, a glass jar containing Marijuana, a small digital scale, a small bag of Marijuana, a glass bong, a small quantity of a Hallucinogenic Drug called “Bromo-DragonFLY”, an unlabeled prescription bottle containing 90 orange capsules and a stolen laptop computer. Mr. Morrison was placed under arrest and transported to Parsippany Police Headquarters where he was processed before being turned over to the custody of the Morris County Jail in lieu of $10,000.00 bail. He was charged with Possession of a Prescription Legend Drug Without a Prescription, Possession of a Hallucinogenic Drug, Theft (laptop), Distribution of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Employing a Person Under 17 Years of Age to Distribute a Controlled dangerous Substance.
Arrest Made for Aggravated Assault in Lake Parsippany
Officer Robert Smolen responded to the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Atlantic Avenue on Saturday, April 28 at 3:23 a.m. to investigate a report of a disturbance in the intersection involving people yelling and screaming. Upon his arrival, Officer Robert Smolen spoke to a female with significant visible facial trauma. She stated that she and her friend were in a vehicle traveling on Lake Shore Drive near Hoffman Beach when she came across several vehicles parked on the roadway and three people arguing in the middle of the street. She slowed down the vehicle that she was operating when one of the individuals in the roadway began striking the hood of the vehicle with their fists. She stopped the vehicle and exited the driver’s side when she was threatened by a male who was standing in the roadway. Before she could get back in to the vehicle, the male pushed her to the ground and began striking her in the head with his closed fist before he fled the scene on foot. Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance Squad responded and treated the victim at the scene. Officers Ross Cooper and Jermaine Pledger quickly located the assailant later identified as Mr. Paris Gadgev, 18, Clifton, walking in the vicinity of the incident. He was placed under arrest and transported to Parsippany Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Aggravated Assault and Terroristic Threats. He was turned over to the custody of the Morris County Jail where he was held in lieu of $75,000.00 bail with no 10% option.
Residential Burglary
Officers Jason Ferreira and Robert Appel responded to a Lake Shore Drive home on Monday, April 30 at in the Lake Parsippany section of the township to investigate a report of a burglary. Upon their arrival they were met by the homeowner who stated that they arrived home at approx. 9:30 p.m. to find that a sliding glass door on the side of their house had been smashed. Officers entered the home and searched the interior for a suspect with negative results. The scene was processed by Detectives from the Parsippany Police Department’s Investigative Division as well as Officers from the Criminal Investigative Division and K-9 Division of the Morris County Sheriff’s Department. There was nothing of value reported missing at the time that the crime was reported. The incident is currently under investigation by members of this agency.
