Mansion in May Designer Showhouse & Gardens Is In Need of Volunteers

The Women's Association of Morristown Memorial Hospital is in need of volunteers to assist with its signature fundraiser, the Mansion in May Designer Showhouse & Gardens. This year’s mansion is Fawn Hill Farm, which is located in picturesque Harding Township.  All proceeds from the event will benefit the $25 million expansion of the Emergency Department at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

A Designer Showhouse is truly a volunteer effort.  The Women’s Association invites you to volunteer your time, meet and network with the community, and see firsthand the professional work of dozens of the area's most accomplished interior and landscape designers, all within the spectacular grounds of Fawn Hill Farm, one of the largest intact estates within the New York City sphere.

“The spirit of the Mansion is May is truly about hospitality and generosity,” said Tina Mulhare, president of the Women’s Association.  “It is a wonderful opportunity to be involved with your community in a way that will truly make a positive difference.”  At the 2008 Mansion in May event, more than 1,000 individuals volunteered in excess of 12,000 hours.

Volunteers are needed to work as room or landscape docents, to help in the Terrace Café, and to assist with parking, admissions, special events, private parties and the Preview Gala.

“With over 35 interior design spaces and 15 spectacular landscape design areas, the Mansion in May promises to be a fabulous event,” said Mulhare.  Please note that landscape, admissions, and parking are outdoors and will be staffed regardless of weather.  Room docents are asked to stand for the shift, although a chair will be provided should it be needed.

The Preview Gala is a one-night event, to be held Saturday, April 24 to celebrate the opening of the 15th Mansion in May. The Mansion in May will run from Saturday, May 1 through Monday, May 31 (Memorial Day).  The hours will be Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Full or half-day shifts are available.  Volunteers are asked to purchase a volunteer pass, which is offered at a reduced rate of $10 and allows unlimited access to the Mansion during the month once the volunteer’s first shift is completed.  If you would like to volunteer or if more information would be helpful, please call the Volunteer Hotline at (973) 971-8800 or email mimvolunteer@optonline.net.
